POLICE divers were this afternoon combing a Gold Coast canal for the gun used to shoot a stripper.
Five divers, some with underwater metal detectors, scoured the canal behind the luxury Broadbeach Waters house where the 26-year-old woman was shot in the thigh yesterday morning after an apparent all-night party with other exotic dancers and men believed to include bikie gang associates.
The search came after police revealed a man may also have been injured during the shooting, but fled the scene before before officers arrived.
"We do have information that, potentially, a male person at the house may have also been injured and may have left before the police arrived,'' regional crime co-ordinator Superintendent Dave Hutchinson said.
Supt Hutchinson said police were keen to talk to the man or anyone with information as to his whereabouts.
He confirmed that officers from police anti-bikie squad Taskforce Hydra had been called in to the investigation but said there was nothing to suggest a bikie link 'at this time'.
"The police are obviously concerned with any incident involving a firearm and we're treating this seriously and putting as many resources into it as we can,'' he said.
The female victim remained under intensive care in the Gold Coast Hospital and had not yet been interviewed, Supt Hutchinson said.
The Namatjira Court house where the shooting took place remained a major crime scene today.
It was the fourth shooting on the Glitter Strip in two weeks.DISCLAIMER:Text may be subject to copyright. This blog does not claim copyright to any such text. Copyright remains with the original copyright holder.
